Loreal Bronde Hair Dye | Review

So I bought this randomly whilst shopping in Asda for nappies, so colouring my hair was not part of the plan! I've not tried the Bronde range before and I picked up shade no. 5 which is for dark brown hair to achieve beige highlights.

I followed the instructions carefully and watched some videos online to get the jist of how to use this as it comes with a tool to get a highlighted or balayage effect.  I haven't coloured the ends of my hair for over 8 months to a year so have faded colour or my own natural colour. I have only been dying my roots to get rid of some random greys in a colour close to my own hair colour so the bottom of my hair has been untouched for a while and that's what I wanted to dye lighter. It does say to use this product on natural hair so I'm guessing its probably not the best on newly dyed or processed hair.

I left the product on for an hour even though it says 20 to 45 minutes. I found at 45 minutes I couldn't see much of a change so decided to leave it for an hour instead. I have to say after washing the dye out and letting it dry it looked nothing like the picture on the dye box obviously always the case! I didn't get any dark blonde  or beige highlights, I have however got a nice shade of brown which looks like I have low lights in my hair so it has given me dimension and multi tones to the hair. I would have prefered to have gone lighter but obviously the bleach levels in the product was not enough to lift my hair colour. It is a very subtle change so for those that want a very subtle soft blend of a balayage from a dark brown to brown then this would work, I don't think it would lift the hair colour to a blonde, especially if you have asian hair like me.

I would say I found the box abit deceiving as on the front it says Beige highlights for Dark Brown Hair, and inside on the leaflet it says your hair will get warm copper highlights, which literally means it will lighten just to a warm light brown, so that did put me off but I tried it anyway as you do...

My Final Thought
I would definitely recommend the highlighting tool when using this dye or perhaps other highlighting dyes so I wouldn't chuck this away. If used properly it does work well in covering hair equally and makes highlighting easier when done on your own.

The hair dye itself, I think the concept is good but the dye didn't really deliver. I have used Loreal hair dyes before and they have lifted my hair colour more than this product. I think I will see how this shade settles on my hair and if it goes lighter or darker. There are 5 shades in this range so I might try one of the lighter shades to see if it will lift the colour better however I'm not sure if they would be suitable or make my hair go orange as I can't be bothered with buying a toner too. I think I will wait a few months and try shade no. 3 or 4. I do still like how it has turned currently it as broken up the block dark brown hair colour I have and added extra tones to it but will prefer to go lighter next time.
