Jane Iredale Mineral Pressed Powder Foundation Review

Jane Iredale Mineral Pressed Foundation in Golden Glow

I was really getting into Mineral makeup (and still am!) and I've tried a few different brands so I thought I'd review them as I go along. I was looking around for mineral foundations that would suit my asian skintone, and I came across Jane Iredale on the internet, and realised there was a salon just next to my workplace that had their products. I bought the Jane Iredale Mineral Pressed Powder in the shade 'GOLDEN GLOW'. It comes in quite a heavy sturdy gold coloured metal case, which is really good and this can be refilled with just the pressed powders, so love that idea, great investment.
I have eastern asian nc35-40 skintone and anything that has the word 'golden' in it gets me interested! Hence, this shade was right up my street. I tried using this product in different methods. One way is that I tried using it just as a mineral foundation on it's own. I used it with a lot of layers and really buffing it into my skin. This made my skin look dull and it didn't sit well on my skin, I felt I looked abit off. I did then realise the best way was to use the brush lightly in circular motions until I got the desired look, so not really buffing it into the skin like other mineral products. (I brought the Jane Iredale Mineral Brush with this, which is a really good brush by the way.)  This was the better option.
How it looks:
This product gave me a beautiful radiant soft focus glow, skin looked reflective and refreshed like I've had a really good facial or come back from a holiday. It definitely NOT matte, or satin- matte. It has light reflecting properties in it, so even in the begininng of the day you start of with a glow.

I have to say as lovely as this looks in the first few hours of applying it, this product just literally melted within few hours…it starts to shine and as it started off glowy to begin with, by midday I was very shiny and turned into a greaseball. I get oilier around my T- zone and get shinier by midday but this made it appear a lot worse and I had to pat my skin with tissue a few times during the day. The colour also oxidizes, so I started to look a lot more tanned. I think if you have dry/normal/mature skin this could work specially if your skin's really matte this would give a nice sheen to your skin as you will get that perfect glowy healthy skin look. However, if you have tendency to get oily/shiny then this will not help it. This wasn't appropriate for me, as I wanted something that would at least last 5 hours of wear during my 8 hour working day. Maybe out and about for a few hours its okay but its not long wearing, specially for those that get oily.
I use this time to time occasionally, but I think it works better on me when I lightly dust it over my normal liquid foundations just to set it, I couldn't rely on this just on its own.
My Final Thought :
Lovely packaging, lovely shade for eastern, Mediterranean or olive skin tones, however it's a no-no if you have oily skin. I think it will look amazing if you have dry skin, so its worth a try if your into more moisturising products as it will probably suit your skin type better. The price is slightly more on the high end of mineral makeup. I won't be buying it again as it does literally just melt off my skin. :(
