MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Laquer Review

Makeup Academy Luxe Velvet Lip Laquer Review

Well I got my hands on two shades. All of the colours looked very pretty, however I decided to get shades that were most looked like natural lip shades as I'd get more wear out of them. The two shades I got were HALCYON and TRANQUILITY.

Tranquility on the eft. Halcyon on the right.

Packaging
MUA have really stepped up their packaging on products you almost would think it's an Urban Decay or some funky makeup company. I love the cute packaging of these lip shades. You can see the shade of the product through the frosted plastic.  At £3 who wouldn't be tempted to thry these!

Halcyon
This looked like a pretty subtle coral, but on the lips it looked like a salmon shade on me. I found it bit heavy on the lips, when I applied it, and its quite sticky untill its dried. Once it's dried however, it looks lovely. This shade is very pigmented.

Tranquility
This is a pretty beigey nude shade. Only thing with this is it just didn't settle on my lips very well. I reapplied it, and when I reapplied it, it sort of came off in some places and looked very patchy. This is very pigmented also but probably better for those with lighter shade lips, because if this cracks or peels then my own darker lip shade comes though which just looked weird! I feel the consistency and quality of this differs to Halycyon.

My Final Thought
The pigmentation and colour pay off are really good.  However the consistency is very heavy and thick and you can feel it on the lips. It does glide on smooth like it says, and does eventually dry, but it just didn't feel comfortable on my lips. The concept is very similar to the NYX Matte lip collection, and they are much better quality.

At £3 you have great colour, but as for quality not so much.......if you want to try them you might want to play around with how you use them, I use a lip balm before applying matte lip products.
