Naturtint Permanent Hair Colour 6N Dark Blonde | Review
So I'm in my early 30's and now have a good few couple of greys! I've had highlights in the past, a few different hair colours, some worked some haven't. I have decided to let my hair grow and get abit healthy and just leave it a shade that's similar to my own but abit lighter. I have very dark brown Asian hair, but not black. I did originally use Naturigin hair dye which gave my hair a lovely brown shade, covered greys well, but their lighter shades seemed warm toned and it was hard to get access to as only a few Lloyds Pharmacies had it in my area and it wasn't local to me. So anyway my sister recommended Naturtint, its similar to Naturigin as in less chemicals, low PHD levels etc so hopefully less harm and damage to the scalp and hair compared to dyes you get at the drugstore.
The good thing about Naturtint dyes, is they are easily available at Hollands and Barretts, and the shades range from G- golden shades, A - ash tones, N - Neutral/Natural shades, so it gives you a good understanding of what tone your hair will be.
I did use 5N which is Light Chestnut Brown previously, it gave my hair a lovely dark brown shade, but it didn't lift my hair colour much. I have thick hair so I think it didn't lift the shade much or perhaps my hairs not that porous. On my sister's hair which is finer and silkier she got a good colour out of it similar to the shade on the box, so it might just be my hair type.
I decided to use shade 6N which is Dark Blonde - a neutral shade so not too warm. I knew my hair wouldn't go orange or blonde, but it would lift to a nice brown shade. I followed the directions on how to dye the roots and then work the dye into the mid-shaft and ends in the last 10 mins, very easy steps to follow, similar to normal dye boxes. My hair blended into a lovely medium brown shade.
Bare in mind the colour does lighten gradually, which I don't mind as the lighter the better!
I will continue to use this hair dye especially this shade. It does cover greys really well, it blends it into your own hair, it's been 2 months and my greys are still hidden apart from the new hair growth of course, I have a lovely brown noticable shade for once as most dyes just darken my hair and I just get a tone of brown rather than the intense colour!
Naturtint is a great range of hair dye that does work, you do need to do your research into the dye, and if you have previously coloured hair what to expect - just like normal boxed dyes. The price is on the high end of boxed dyes at £10.99 I think, so I do try wait until there are offers. I do use the dye just for the roots now, so I'm able to use the pack for twice.
My Final Thought
Please do not be baffled into thinking its a natural hair dye, only henna can do that and that's limited to a few shades - usually warmer ones! I feel better about using a low chemical hair dye long term as lets face it, once the greys kick in, not like your gonna stop dying your hair! It doesn't dry your hair, overtime my hair actually feels better than what normal boxed dyes do. I don't get breakage like chemical dyes do to your hair. so I'm pretty happy with this, its much gentle, and it doesn't have a strong smell, doesn't make your scalp itch. It's so easy to apply, its like a thick gel. The aftercare products in the pack such as the shampoo, conditioner and a leave in CC cream is great in keeping the hair soft and manageable after dying. Absolutely love the results with this dye.
