Inika Certified Organic Liquid Foundation Review

Inika Certified Organic Liquid Foundation
I'm really trying to gear more towards natural and organic products, and using certain products everyday, like foundations and moisturisers I thought I'd try the Inika Liquid Foundation.
I got a sample of the Inika in the shade 'Honey', which is described to suit medium to dark beige and warm/tan tones. (From the swatches below it probably looks an exact match to my hand, but my face is alot lighter...if your Asian like me then you know we are different shades all over!).

How it feels
It feels kind of sticky and tacky when you first put it on the face, I think the best way to use this is with your fingers to blend as it doesn't glide as smoothly across your face like most foundation do which has silicones in it.

How it looks
When I first put it on I thought I'd look quite shiny, as it has a dewy feeling and finish, however it does dry out after a few minutes so I get a nice semi matte dewy/glowy look. As I tend to get an oily T-zone I always pair up my liquid foundations with a powder on top, and this goes really well with my Earthnicity Mineral Powder Foundation in Natural Buff.

Coverage
I get the right amount of medium - to a natural looking full coverage look using Inika and my powder, however Inika on its own gives a medium coverage and perhaps full if you have really good skin as it's quite pigmented in colour. I had a few blemishes near my jaw and layering this on twice did a pretty good job of concealing them, so impressed there! For a natural foundation this had pretty amazing coverage that didn't sheer out or melt off like most natural brands. By the end of the working day and spending my evening out, so about 14 hours of wear I still had even complexion, obviously not as fresh as first thing in the morning, but the coverage was still there, but alot dewier looking. As I didn't use a moisturiser before, and used this foundation on its own, I didn't get  my usual shiny skin by midday, it stayed semi matte until a few more hours after lunch time which was impressive. The day I tried this with a moisturiser I got shiny alot quicker. I think if you get oily or shiny skin then using these natural foundations without moisturiser is the best way.

Scent
Foundation scents aren't really important to me, aslong as it doesn't smell like a whole bunch of chemicals, but this has a lovely herbally natural oils type of scent, its kind of addictive!

Shade
I don't think this shade entirely suited me. When I first put it on I look fresh and got compliments at work. Although during the day it does oxidise. This shade has warm slightly orange tones to it, so it makes me look more warmer toned. it's definitely for more medium to medium dark warmer tones. I might try the Beige and see how that looks, although in the pictures the swatches do seem quite light. The shade Honey would probably suit the summer months but I think I'm a tad lighter. I usually use foundations exactly or a shade lighter as I warm it up with blush and bronzer, I look more fresher that way during the day, darker shades tend to make me look more roasted as the colour oxidises too most of the time.

My Final Thought
Overall, surprised by this product, really impressed with the coverage considering its all natural. I think they need a shade between beige and honey called 'Golden' lol, that would be my perfect ideal shade. I will give Beige a try, there samples are only £1 and the tube lasted me a week. Impressed with with foundation, if Beige suits me then I'd use this as my everyday HG Foundation!

Edit: 14/02/15
Since I wrote this review I took a chance and got the Inika foundation in the shade BEIGE. I'm so glad I got this, it's my HG everyday natural foundation. I took a chance getting this shade as the HONEY shade made me look bit tanned and orange. I thought BEIGE would be abit light for me but it's perfect, I love it so much and it matches my skin very well, my skin looks glowy and healthy with this product. Will defo by a refill when it finishes! I would describe the shade as a yellow toned beige, it would suit golden, yellow or beige skin tones. Honey is best suited if your skin has more deeper warmer tones or for tanned skin.
