My Top 3 Favourite Natural Mineral Foundations | Review

I've tried and tested so many mineral foundations I thought I should just dedicate a quick overview of my favourite ones.

Firstly how I use them:
How you apply/use your foundations will work differently for everyone. I've tried using a mineral foundation on top of just a moisturiser and no matter what brand I have used I just don't have that natural but flawless coverage. It looks perfect when you first apply it in the morning by midday some brands start to disappear or cake up in my fine lines around my cheeks and nose or I look like quite oily as it just melts OR I just look like I have nothing on!

The best way to get out of my Mineral Loose or Pressed Foundation is by using a natural tinted moisturiser, BB cream or a Natural/Organic Liquid Foundation first as a base, so you have some light coverage to start with.

What works for me is the Inika Liquid Foundation with a mineral foundation on top. Inika gives me a sheer to light coverage, medium if you build it up although as it's oil based - too much can make you look greasy. With this, I like to use a mineral foundation on top to give the perfect natural medium coverage. When I use Inika I usually skip using a moisturiser as I end up looking greasy and Inika seems to be moisturising already.

So below is basically my favourite foundations that I like to use either with a tinted BB cream, or Liquid foundation as a base before I use the mineral foundation. This is how I like to use mineral foundations to give me the best long lasting coverage but it may work differently with you.

My Favourite Natural Mineral Foundations

1. Joppa Full Coverage Mineral Foundation
This has quickly become my favourite mineral foundation hands down!

Coverage: Full Natural Coverage, I look flawless just like I've used a good liquid foundation minus the toxic chemicals! It doesn't look cakey on me like some reviews say, I just look like I have gorgeous smooth skin with a lovely glow....it gives the perfect natural flawless looking coverage.

Shades: I think they have 55 shades. They do run abit dark, I would class myself as a medium but  LIGHT 3 works well for me, could probably go a shade lighter in winter and use Light 2.5.  Light 3 works well for a NC 35-42 I would say. Maybe an NC30 could pull this off if you want a more sun kissed tanned look.

To be honest I was really sceptical about this brand,  the reviews on makeupalley are amazingly good but heard the customer service isn't that great. I went ahead and ordered some samples anyway. I was expected another mineral foundation with the same ingredients and somewhat medium coverage.  what lead me to this brand was the fact they catered for those with deeper skintones.  There are alot of Mineral brands that are catering for darker skin tones however I feel some still do have an ashy/grey halo about them so they don't suit my skintone. I like my mineral powder to have rich golden/yellow/warm pigment in it and that gives me the best healthy glow.

The sample pots are generously filled up, and a little goes along way with this product. Like I said LIGHT 3 matched me perfectly, but I think in winter I could go abit lighter so I emailed the company asking about which shade up I could be, and they generously posted me 3/4 more samples for free! So I can't complain about that, lovely helpful customer service! I think this brand really caters for warmer to darker skin so it's worth a try.

My Final thought
I'm still using the samples, and I'm REALLY impressed with the coverage, if you want to appear flawless yet look natural like you have good skin without looking cakey I would try these mineral powders. They work amazing on oily/combination skin. They have 2 more different coverage powders too, in soft coverage and I think one which gives a bronzed look. I have ordered the full size in the full coverage and may try the soft coverage in the future.

2. Alima Satin- Matte Foundation
Lovely shade with a sheer - medium soft coverage.

This used to be my favourite until I discovered Joppa, but they are so close so bit of a tie really. They also have like over 40 shades and it's pretty easy to find your it match with their clear instructions on how to find your shade.

Coverage: I would say its sheer- to medium buildable. The coverage is good for me, but its the lasting power that I feel lets me down alittle bit.  It doesn't last all day at the office, so I usually wear this if I'm out and about, shopping, day time looks etc.  I only use a moisturiser underneath as it gives good natural soft focus coverage.  It feels amazingly smooth and buttery on the skin like I have nothing on. It is SO soft and gentle on the skin, other mineral powders can feel dry and scratchy when you blend them in, but this powder feels so light and airy and so super blendable I just love the soft focus and healthy warmth it brings to my skin.

Shade: I'm in the shade WARM 4. Lovely pigmented shade, suits me perfectly. If your not looking for full coverage then I would say try this one, as your skin will look beautifully healthy and glowy. if you don't have oily skin then this would really suit you. They cater for so many different skin tones, from light to dark, golden, to neutral and olive etc, I'm sure you will find a shade to match.

My final Thought
I love the packaging, design, customer service.  They recently have a new pressed powder version out which . I think this is a really good mineral foundation if your new to minerals, it gives a gorgeous etherealglow, and feels really soft on the skin due to its fine milled ingredients. Looking forward to trying their liquid foundation when it hits the UK market.

3. Earthnicity Mineral Foundation
I love this foundation as it looks AMAZING paired with the Inika Foundation. I look fresh faced and natural with this. It's not a mineral powder that I could use just on its own but skin looks lovely paired with the Inika foundation. It gives me a very natural fresh faced glow.

I've noticed this mineral foundation goes really well with any BB cream/liquid foundation, etc on my face. So its always the safest option I pick when I use something else underneath. it sits well, I have a fresh faced glow, what can I say it just freshens me up, and I feel out of the other two, this one gives me the most natural but sharp look.

My Final Thought

Love all 3 of these foundations, but I definitely pick this one up the most for a long working day etc, or a day time party look or a get together where I want a more pulled together look that lasts alittle bit longer than the other foundations.
