PHB Ethical Beauty Loose Mineral Foundation in Beige | Review & swatch
PHB Loose Mineral Foundation in Beige |
I seem to be doing alot of PHB reviews lately, only because I ordered a few of their samples to try and loved them so I'm happy to share my thoughts with you.
So I ordered the travel size version of the Loose Mineral Foundation in Beige which is suited to medium to tan warm golden undertones. The lighter shade before this is called Peach which I am in, in the Liquid Formula, but I found the picture of the shade looked a tad light. It could probably still work as its for Light to Medium peachy skintones however I found Beige looked warmer. I'm glad I only got the Beige in the end as I have a million pots of sample Loose Foundations and if i don't like them they are just taking space in my drawer, but PHB's foundation has been used every day since I got it. It's been a week and I still have about another week or a few days left to use.
So these are the ingredients listed on their website:
Mica (reflects light, reduces appearance of pores and fine lines),
Titanium Dioxide (CI77891) (offers natural sun protection SPF15, has
high coverage, helps adhere make up to the skin, reflects light) , Zinc
Oxide (offers natural sun protection SPF15, has high coverage, good
adherence, calms irritated skin and can be beneficial to conditions like
rosacea), Silica (absorbent and controls oil production, light
diffusing so reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles,
hypoallergenic), Boron Nitride (anti-bacterial, oil absorbing, good
adherence) , Iron Oxides (CI77491, CI77493, CI77499 (oxidised, produces
beautiful earthy tones), Ultramarines (CI77007)
I like how they mention what each ingredient is in brackets so we know what is what!
Shade - Beige
I think the shade is perfect for me, it does look deeper on the pot but doesn't look as dark on the skin, it comes on lighter on my face so it matches perfectly. I did use this with PHB's BB Cream, as I do prefer a good light to medium coverage and using both products works really well in achieving this flawless look. This shade suits me perfectly as some mineral foundations can either be too pink or some shades just look really off, this has enough warm on it without making me look too tanned. It does get slightly warmer looking during the day once your natural oils come through but doesn't oxidise at all.It also has an SPF of 15 which is great for everyday weather in the UK. I love that even for a British brand their shades cater for yellow/golden tones as I hate to stereotype but most brands stick to neutral/pink toned shades which just puts me off. I saw some reviews on PHB's Mineral Foundation's but most were reviews from fairer skintones so I hope for our medium golden girls this review was helpful! They also seem to have a few more darker shades than this which is amazing normally most brands stop at medium shades so hurrah!
Consistency/Coverage
I feel when you have just added mineral foundations on your face you look abit flat, chalky or too powdered (I'm sure you would agree?) but once you have added all your other makeup such as blush, highlighter, bronzer etc you really start to look put together really well! I love how this mineral foundation in particular does give a really good natural flawless looking coverage. It is smooth, with a matte finish, not totally matte as you do get a nice glow to the face. I do not like powders that make you look dull or flat and this product does not do that.
My Final Thought
At the moment I am rotating using my three favourite mineral powders. Alima Mineral foundation which is nearly finishing (however it is abit expensive in the UK, so not sure if I'll buy it again). Joppa Minerals which I order from the US which is great to use on its own, and the PHB travel size foundation. I do want something that goes well with a Tinted or BB cream so I will purchase the full size of PHB's foundation once my Alima is finished. It is much cheaper and suits me perfectly so I will not mind replacing Alima for PHB's Mineral Foundation. I think all mineral foundations give a different look even though most of them have the same ingredients in them so it all depends what look or how it settles on your skin during the day. I would definetely recommend trying the sample/travel sizes from PHB.
